About the Program

The Fearless Shakespeare intensive is a four-week program designed to demystify Shakespeare for young actors. Under the direction of award-winning actor and Yale Drama MFA graduate Joseph Fuqua, students are immersed in the language and culture of “The Bard” while rehearsing and performing one of his masterpieces. During this four-week journey, students develop a new appreciation for literature, learning about script analysis, scansion and verse, and vocal production.

About the Show

What lengths will one man go to be king? Based on the last of the historical Plantagenet Kings, Shakespeare’s Richard III brings to life one of the most infamous monarchs in England’s history in a twisting tale of villainy and intrigue for the ages. Charismatic, cunning and utterly ruthless, Richard, Duke of Gloucester, twists the truth to achieve his ambitious ends. He is the very embodiment of lethal ambition as he maneuvers and murders his way to the throne of England. This play is an important and timely exploration of language as an instrument for achieving political power.
