acting classes!
Taught by industry professionals, Rubicon Theatre’s Acting Classes create a supportive environment where students of all ages build essential skills for both the stage and real world. Whether you are ready to take your artistry to the next level, brand new to acting, or simply want to develop your skills as speaker or performer, there is a class for you. Small groups allow for personalized attention.
Programs for ages 11 and above end with a professionally filmed, final presentation for friends and family.

YOUNG STARS
Ages 5 to 7
In this playful first step into the world of theatre, students enjoy theatre games and work on simple scenes to learn basic skills, gain confidence, and learn how to share the stage with others. The focus is on creativity, and teamwork in a joyful, fun setting.

SUPER STARS
Ages 8 to 10
Super Stars dive into acting with improvisation, character-building, and short scenes. Students practice listening, responding, and making bold choices while keeping the atmosphere fun and collaborative.

YOUNG APPRENTICES
Ages 11 to 14
This class introduces middle school actors to the discipline of the rehearsal room. Students build skills in voice, movement, and text analysis while learning how to make clear, specific choices. They strengthen ensemble awareness and prepare for future training or auditions. The final presentation is professionally filmed for students’ use.

ACTORS’ LAB
Ages 15 to 18
Designed for high school students ready to train at a deeper level, Rubicon’s Actors Lab focuses on scene study, monologues, movement, voice, and script analysis. Actors are challenged to take risks, develop a personal process, and perform with confidence. The program mirrors a professional rehearsal environment and concludes with a final presentation, professionally filmed for students’ use.

RUBICON
ACTORS’ STUDIO
Adults 19+
Led by Patrick Vest, a 30+ year professional actor, director, and fight choreographer with an MFA from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, this weekly class uses a text-based Stanislavski approach. Actors investigate character through what is said and said about them, converting analysis into playable actions. Sessions emphasize script analysis, objectives, beats, behavior, voice, speech, and movement. Work includes scenes, monologues, audition polish, and a repeatable rehearsal process, with physical storytelling skills.
